Chef Hasset Go Bloggers Night: The Il Mercanti Experience Aftermath

Everyone knows I love food. Even though I do not know how to cook (well, I'm learning :P), I know how to appreciate a meal that's prepared with love. Raised by my grandmother and aunts who know their way around the kitchen, being their taste tester paid off.

My first bloggers night happened to revolve around food - tasty sweets in fact; and the person behind these interesting and mouth-watering goodies, Chef Hasset Go. Held at Il Mercanti Food Bazaar in Metrowalk, Pasig City last May 5, the erratic weather didn't stop eager bloggers, tri-media personalities, sponsors, friends and family of the Sweets Master to attend the said event.

Il Mercanti's Marketing Manager, Ms. Analou De Castro gave the opening remarks followed by a live cooking demo of Los Hermanos' Chef Nando's Chicken Chorizo Paella.

YouTube group Boyz Next Door, whom are Chef Hasset Go's friends, graced the stage for a live performance. Giu and Garth Garcia both performed solo in between the group performance. They ended the skit singing "I Want It That Way" of Backstreet Boys.

Event's Highlight: Chef Hasset Go

Co-owner of MedChef Homemade Cakes and Pastries, co-owner of Desserts Strip of Chef Maribel in Cagayan de Oro, and Chef Instructor at the Culinary Institute of Cagayan de Oro - that's Chef Hasset Go. He's only twenty-five years old, a product of Heny Sison Culinary School, one of the chefs behind Chefs and Foodservice Community of the Philippines and Global Excellence and People's Choice Awardee as an Outstanding Young Chef by Asia Pacific Awards.

Chef Hasset did a live cooking demo of Saute'd Ham and Mac Pasta Dish using King Sue products.
Another intermission number by Aisaku Yokogawa serenaded the crowd.
Yes, he is 'Kari' in the Kari-Poku commercial ;)

Another live demo by Chef Hasset is the preparation of the bestselling Pastry Tower. The pastry itself was already made and he just stacked it up and poured Puratos over it *drools*. A Pastry Tower demolition contest was held after between two groups composed of six bloggers each.

The event marked the launching of Chef Hasset Go's website, www.chefhassetgo.com. A soon-to-be released recipe book entitled "Desserts to Go!" was also introduced via a Cake Fashion Show. Some of the desserts they featured are Marang Panna Cotta, Mango-Suman Crepe, Vegetable Cake, Calamansi Meringue Pie, Pumpkin Revel Bars, Papaya Cheesecake, Maja Blanca Springrolls, Sugar-free Moist Chocolate Cake, Ube-Jackfruit Cake and Malunggay Cake. Cool huh? :)

Capping the night with a message from Chef Hasset himself and Mr. Mark Joseph Delgado of Mediactiv8 Communications, thanking all the sponsors, the concessionaires, the media personalities, friends, family and the bloggers who came that night.

It was hosted by Ms. Kathy Solis of ABS-CBN and DJ Churley of Tambayan 101.9 who did a great job despite the technical problems during the event.

Thank you to the concessionaires at Il Mercanti Food Bazaar namely Los Hermanos, Tita Carol, Philly Mignon, Cusina Marina, Macaros, Corndog, Pasta Boulivar, and Tess Ihaw; and the sponsors of Chef Hasset Go: King Sue, Ceres and CJ for the food and the freebies.

[caption id="" align="aligncenter" width="375"] Ceres Grape Juice ♥ I wish I bought home some of these :3[/caption]

[caption id="" align="aligncenter" width="500"] I'm not sure from which concessionaire or sponsor this came from (sounded like The Hunger Games lol), but I love it all esp. the one on the upper right side :)[/caption]

[caption id="" align="aligncenter" width="375"] King Sue goodies :D (I already cooked the bacon :3)[/caption]

[caption id="" align="aligncenter" width="375"] CJ Korean products. I'm thinking when and where to use these :3[/caption]

I came without expectations but I really enjoyed it. Congratulations and thank you to Chef Hasset Go for sharing you life and cooking with us for that night. You are an inspiration :)

Also, to Mark, congratulations for a job well done and thank you for extending the invitation!
