Kebabers: First Kebab Fastfood Restaurant

Persian food helps me survive rough days -- especially during college and internship. It wasn't cheap per se, in my budget, but it keeps me filled until I clock out at 6PM (which is rare lol). Nowadays, I barely buy shawarma or kebab and stepping into a kebab fastfood restaurant on an early Saturday morning wasn't a bad idea at all.

Kebabers started out as a kiosk at St. Lukes Medical Center (E. Rodriguez) in 2009. They expanded around Metro Manila and by June 2012, the owners decided to open a dine-in store along Katipunan Ave. Recently, they've opened branches in Kapitolyo, SM North and The Fort.

This dine-in, self-service store uses a queue dial so that customers don't have to wait in line.

Let's get to the food, shall we? :)

Beef Pichos

Our appetizer, Beef Pichos or Persian Nachos does not skimp on toppings. Loaded with ground beef, freshly chopped cucumbers, tomatoes and onions topped with garlic sauce and cheeeeeeese -- once I tasted it, I cannot stop! The homemade nachos, which is actually pita bread fried to perfection, is thick and not salty.
Price: P95
Serves 2-3 persons.

Cheese Kebab Rice Meal

You know how when you order a kebab with rice meal, you can only choose between beef or pork? At Kebabers, it was the first time to have three different meat variants! Feel free to mix! If you're trying to stay away from beef (leftmost) or chicken (center), they have fish kebab (rightmost)!

The meat was moist and flavorful. I almost didn't finish my meal because it was heavy on the stomach (I'm not saying this just because I was on a strict diet and slimming treatment). Oh! Did I mention this is a CHEESE kebab rice meal? 'Cause it was oozing with cheesy goodness -- something I haven't encountered before.

You can choose between Spicy Garlic (left) or Garlic sauce. Whatever floats your boat, both sauces are yum! Spicy garlic isn't actually spicy. It just gives enough kick and added flavor to the meal. The best thing is that they're very generous with REFILLS!

Price: P95 for 2 pcs. / P125 for 3 pcs. / add P15 for regular softdrinks

Verdict

Kebabers also serve Shawarma (Keema, Steak, Beef Kebab, Chicken Kebab), Kebab Rice meal, Keema Rice meal, Shawarma Rice Bowl (Monster Beef, Peppered Steak, Crazy Chicken), Crunchy Fish, Twisted Fries, Chili Fingers and Chocolate Fudge.

It is said that the owner are persian food lovers whose menu reflects their personal taste and preference for each item. For one, Persians love (dry) cheese, which is clearly reflected in their meals. Their branches are accessible, the prices are student budget friendly and each serving will make every tummy happy!

  2. That plate of beef pichos is calling my name!! I have been in the middle east for 7 years but kebab is something I still have to get used to. I just find the flavor too strong for my liking. But I love lamb chops haha

  5. I've only been to their Eastwood branch, and it's always crammed with customers. Although their food items are at mall prices, they are clean and pretty filling. Love their garlic sauce!
