#GKCooks: Century Tuna Baked Ziti

When people learn about this blog's name, they ask if I cook. In all honesty, I want to play the part. Not just to justify the name but because that's how much I love food.

The funny thing is, Nanay wants me to learn how. But she would always talk my ears off or take over. I was raised to be independent as a learner. I would do some research and would rarely ask for help unless I can't really figure things out.

I retold this story to Chef Heart, who was guiding us on how to prepare healthy alternatives for the holidays. For some reason, she doesn't believe me haha! I take that as a sign that I have a future in cooking :p

Moving on.. As promised, I'm sharing with you the easy-to-prepare recipe for the dish I posted on Instagram: Baked Ziti!

Cooking Instructions

Pre-heat oven at 350℉.

Heat olive oil in a pan. Saute garlic, onion, bell pepper and mushroom until tender. Add canned tomatoes, dried basil, Italian seasoning and Century Tuna Hot and Spicy. Season with salt and pepper then simmer for 2-3 minutes. Add cream and cooked penne pasta, then turn off heat.

In a large baking dish, spread half of pasta at the bottom of the pan. Add half of the ricotta, cottage and mozzarella cheese, then top with the remaining pasta and cheeses.

Bake at 350℉ for 20 minutes. Cool for 5 minutes before serving.

People liked our Baked Ziti very much (no humble-bragging here), only a third of it was left after the taste test! That explains the cropped photo header hehe! I took some home for Nanay and she liked it to the point that she's asking me to prepare it for Noche Buena!

I wish we have an oven at home but Ate Vance taught me an alternative: keep the mixture in the pan, add the different cheeses on top, cover it with foil and let it simmer.

If you have other thoughts and suggestions, leave a comment below alright? :)

Baked Ziti was prepared using your favorite Century Tuna, now easy-open, as part of the Century Tuna Superbods Basic Cooking Class: Healthy Alternatives for the Holidays!

  9. Just to add variety, try the spicy one for an added kick! The cheese dominates naman so it won't be that spicy :)

  10. This is the most complicated, aside from the Risotto Balls, that I have ever done. Haha! This one took around 45 minutes all in all. :)
