[CLOSED] Review: Bar-B-Skew

Eat-all-you-can and do-it-yourself restaurants serving different cuisines are everywhere! We think we've seen it all but a restaurant located at the busy Boy Scout Circle in Quezon City promises a unique dining experience.

Bar-B-Skew is the first Skewer buffet restaurant in the country, serving all time ihaw favorites. I chanced upon it after a friend tagged me on Facebook, I suddenly craved for isaw!!! After watching the preview video, I wasn't aware of a restaurant offering tabletop cooking using charcoal so it was the perfect opportunity to try it out.

Dinner at Bar-B-Skew

I went with my brother last Sunday. We were both supposed to come after our church service in a nearby club but he had their thesis defense so we decided that we'll meet up at church before going here. It was almost 7PM and about time to grab some food before going home.

Grab yer plate and fill it with goodies..

Just go to the counter while they're preparing the charcoal. Their selection of skewers cater to both meat lovers and vegetarians:

If you availed the buffet, help yourself with unlimited rice, sisig, fried chicken, mixed vegetables, and kangkong on the side.

..line 'em up..

Slip each skewer into the tabletop rotating grill.

..coat it with flavor..

Hope you grabbed a cup (or two) of barbecue sauce and a brush on your way back to your station. Choose from Sweet & Spicy, Hot Pepper, Garlic Butter, Sweet Chili, Soy Sesame, and Pinoy Sweet.

We used Hot Pepper sauce on our first batch and Butter Garlic sauce on the second one.

..and a little patience!

The meat is thinly sliced so cooking time is around 2-3 minutes only, unless you want it slightly burned. Careful not to leave your marshmallow too long on the grill :)

I took a short video while the skewers were being cooked but I haven't edited it yet.. :(

Menu (as of November 2013)

  • The restaurant is easy to find and located far from traffic-congested food areas like Makati, BGC, and Ortigas.

  • The skewers are fresh and clean! One less thing to worry about if you want your sossy or foreigner friends to eat isaw.

  • No more dyahe factor for group of friends who are eating after work hours, still in their business casual wear.

  • We probably ate around 20 skewers and 1 cup of rice each, which made us full but didn't feel bloated at all.

  • We declare Butter Garlic as the best BBQ sauce!

  • My favorite skewer is (of course) chicken isaw while my brother loves the marshmallow!
