Future pastry chefs shine at Goldilocks' 9th Intercollegiate Cake Decorating Challenge (ICDC) last March 7, 2015 at the SM Mall of Asia.

A new twist on the mechanics awaited the contestants for this season. In five hours or less, a group of four per team were expected to decorate a debut inspired cake (using whipped creme) and a wedding cake (using fondant). Sharing one central supply bin, they have access to a full array of decorative materials (sprinkles, candies, toppers and dyes) with Avoset Pour N Whip as their base ingredient. Having no prior knowledge on the cake theme nor decorating parameters, it was up to the team's imagination and talent to best out their competitors.

A third cake with no particular theme was also decorated and Gabriel Taborin College of Davao won the Avoset Bonus Round.

I felt proud with the cake I decorated at home last November, but it was nowhere near the ones showcased in this competition. Haha! Nonetheless we all had fun doing it! Goodluck on your future endeavors participants and congratulations to Goldilocks for another successful event! :)

P.S. - Thanks to Sir Alwin of The City Roamer for graciously sharing some of his photos :)

  1. the debutante cake with sunflower is my favorite! ang effort tignan parang may elepante pa! hehe

  2. Sugar rush! I think the important question here is... Did you get to taste any of the cakes? Haha! Darnit. Now I want cake...

  3. This really gives a good platform for our budding pastry chefs to show their talents, keep it up Goldilocks!

  4. Yay for pretty cakes!!! My friend who bakes and does cakes decors is the one who did all of the baby's monthly cakes. I really love it. I would always get excited every month coz we'd usually come up with a theme. Hihihi! Kudos to Goldilocks for hosting this kind of event.

  5. Goldilocks is indeed the OG of all bakeshops! :) I love how brands would set up something like this to showcase Filipino talents. Congratulations to the winners! I wish I was there, too, because, besides my love for sweets, I like attending anything competition that deals with hospitality.

  6. Group creativity shows in their creations. These cake decorations are as much fun to look at.

  7. Ang gaganda ng decorations ng cake. Iba na talaga ang panahon ngayon, pati cake designs lume-level up, may 3D at sobrang colorful pa pero pwedeng edible!

  8. I like the winner of the Wedding cake category. Simple yet elegant. That Adventure Time cake on the last photo is soooo cute!
