Authentic Korean Fare at Leann's Tea House
A couple of weeks ago I had lunch with old and new food blogger friends. I was excited because we were going to a Korean restaurant <3
Located at the quiet, residential part of Mother Ignacia St. in Quezon City, Leann's Tea House opened last April 5, 2014 and is run by a family of food loving entrepreneurs. It is named after Jaclyn and Youngbae Park's first born.
Leann's Tea House serve home-cooked Korean food [ranging from grilled meat, kimbap, ramen to 찌개 (jjigae/soup)], their menu based on the Parks' treasured family recipes.

We were seated at the second floor and while waiting for our food, house tea and banchan (kimchi, potato salad, lettuce salad, beansprouts) were served.

Start off your meal with one of their best sellers, Tonkatsu Kimbap - rice roll wrapped in breading and fried to crunchy, golden brown perfection.
[caption id="attachment_3674" align="aligncenter" width="534"] Tonkatsu Kimbap - P250 (10 pcs)[/caption]
Our appetizers were Japchae, Ojinguh Bokkeum (spicy squid), Fried Mandu (dumplings), and Korean Vegetable Pancake.
[caption id="attachment_3676" align="aligncenter" width="700"] 잡채 - P210[/caption]
[caption id="attachment_3677" align="aligncenter" width="700"] 오징어뽁음 - P240[/caption]
[caption id="attachment_3678" align="aligncenter" width="700"] 군만두 - P100 (6 pcs)[/caption]
From healthy banchan and appetizers, we move to assorted meat dishes!
[caption id="attachment_3679" align="aligncenter" width="500"] Spicy Daeji Gui (Pork BBQ) - P 220[/caption]
[caption id="attachment_3694" align="aligncenter" width="500"] Spicy Dak Gui (Chicken BBQ) - P210[/caption]
Of course, the experience wouldn't be complete without grilling some meat! Bring out the L.A. Galbi, samgyeospal and woosamgyup! Another best seller!

[caption id="attachment_3682" align="aligncenter" width="500"] Ready to eat LOL :D[/caption]
Make rice a meal on itself with the following meals. Plain rice is also available.

[caption id="attachment_3684" align="aligncenter" width="480"] Bibimbap - P210[/caption]
We don't experience winter like Korea does but we do love soup-based meals. Sadly, we didn't get to try their shabu-shabu. :(
[caption id="attachment_3685" align="aligncenter" width="480"] Seafood Doenjang Jjigae (Soybean Soup) - P300 (sharing for two, without rice)[/caption]
[caption id="attachment_3686" align="aligncenter" width="700"] I don't know the name but I like this one because it has dates! :)[/caption]
Here comes the "tea house" part! Unlike other types of tea, Korean tea is not popular in the Philippines. Leann's has four flavorful frozen teas to choose from.
[caption id="attachment_3641" align="aligncenter" width="500"] (clockwise) Green Tea, Black Tea, Red Ginseng, Omija.[/caption]
They also have what they call dessert teas - warm, sweet and refreshing drinks best to cap off your heavy fatty meal with. It is available in two flavors: Honey Citron Tea (left) and Honey Jujube Tea (right).

Smoothies, soda, shakes, and specialty cocktails also available.
What a nice surprise it was when they started passing off ice cream after our meal - for FREE! You can choose between Vanilla and French Vanilla flavors. For regular paying customers only :)
I couldn't shake off my curiosity with Korean ice cream, particularly Melona and the fish-shaped one, so I decided to try them. Fortunately, Leann's also sell them yey! <3

Oh, Korean ice cream is so good! Melona was light and tasty with just the right sweetness. We were expecting the fish ice cream sandwich to have red beans but it was filled with chocolate ice cream instead. Nonetheless it was something I would look forward to eat during warm days :)
#foodcoma thoughts
- Tonkatsu Kimbap is served with tonkatsu sauce. I would like to try it with soy sauce.
- Craving for grilled meat? It's P349 for unli Samgyeopsal or P399 for unli Samgyeopsal AND Woosamgyup! Compared to other establishments, this is probably the most affordable option for both meat!
- Top 5 food picks (in no particular order):
- Fried mandu
- Bibimbap
- Tonkatsu Kimbap
- Unnamed soup
- LA Galbi
- Frozen tea preference (highest to lowest): Green Tea, Black Tea, Ojima, Red Ginseng. For some reason, the green tea put off the spiciness of the food.
- I recommend any of the dessert teas and ice cream products!
- The free ice cream is a nice personal touch <3
- You get more than what you pay for - both in quality and quantity.
I would definitely be back! Thank you Leann's Tea House for the invite and the free kimchi <3
