Mega Food Tour 2.0: Linguini Fini by Chef Vinny
Our first stop for the Mega Food Tour 2.0 was the flagship branch of Linguini Fini in the Philippines. It is an Italian-American restaurant based in Hong Kong brought to us by the Moment Group.
The restaurant interiors brings in the New York feel while graffiti murals by Deejae Paeste features our very own jeepney, Haribon, Jose Rizal, Manny Pacquiao and more! This is makes the place youthful and vibrant, shying away from your typical Italian restaurant.
The restaurant also features an open kitchen where customers can assure their food is prepared from scratch. They use the freshest locally-sourced ingredients, incorporating Filipino flavors in place of those not found in the region. Everything is done in-house, including making their own pasta!
Hong Kong branch Executive Chef Vinny Lauria shared the history behind Linguini Fini. He also explained a little more about the best sellers we tasted during the tour. Linguini Fini has an extensive menu, taking pride in their pasta and porchetta.
Our first dish came in the form of Straccetti di Manzo (P450), "seared beef slices, artichokes, gorgonzola, arugula, and anchovy aioli". I wasn't able to taste it though, since I was busy taking photos. Meh :<
Papardelle "Nose to Tail Bolo" (P430 + 10% sc) is a prime example of the restaurant's philosophy where nothing goes to waste. It has pork testa, veal & oxtail ragu, and Parmigiano Reggiano over soft pasta. Best eaten when served.
Slow-roasted pork belly goodness Porchetta sliced (P595 + 10% sc) comes with caramelized onion marmalata on the side. It was my first time to eat Porchetta chopped, with chili mostarda and sweet fennel over focaccia bread. I like the chopped version more, just because I won't need to eat rice hehe :p

Linguini Fini delivers simple and organic dishes with great flavors and a Filipino twist.
One down, eight more to go! Up next: something Japanese :)
