Easycook Legumes Cooking Demo & Recipes, Genting-Star Tourism Academy
Peas and lentils (can be referred to as 'pulses') are two of the healthiest food on the planet yet not typically found in Filipino diet.
Pulses, according to the US Dry Pea and Lentil Council of the USDA, deliver great flavor, are nutrient-dense, gluten-free with low allergen and low glycemic responses. If you are diabetic, have heart problems, or are trying to lose weight, have some peas and lentils!
Lentils are actually inexpensive compared to mongo and also available all year round.
Chef Ojie Reloj did a cooking demonstration entitled "Peas be unto you, and Lentils too!" with cancer-fighting, protein- and fiber-rich legumes for a hearty healthy feast, organized by Ideal Macaroni & Spaghetti Factory, Inc.
Chef Ojie is an architect by trade so he knows to meld function and beauty while emphasizing the importance of using local resources, which he also does in his cooking.
I loved all three dishes! Here are the recipes so you can try it out in your own home:
